Father Cerrone and Cantrell

Catholic Chaplain Michael J. Cerrone (left) with Church of God Chaplain Steven E. Cantrell (Fort Benning, GA) highly endorse the Wartime Prayer Book Campaign.

In the past, we have presented graduating Soldiers (attending the Catholic service) with the Wartime Prayer Books. I envision a time when we could present these books to our many Catholic Soldiers when they first arrive, well before graduation.
- Chaplain Steven E. Cantrell

All of us at the Sheen Foundation wish to send our very best to Chaplain Cerrone as he retires from the service.

Also, we wish Chaplain Cantrell the best of luck as he looks forward to his new assignment and possible deployment overseas in January .

Joe Reichart and Ray Jaegers

Joe Reichart (left) and Ray Jaegers (right) both support the Wartime Prayer Book Campaign. They are both Fourth Degree Members from different Assemblies of the Knights of Columbus and parishoners of St. George Parish in Linn, MO.

Ray is holding up a copy of the prayer book that he used during World War II. He says that the prayers in his book helped him get through the war.

Joe's son is a U.S. Army Officer serving in Iraq. He and his wife Sandy continue to raise money in their hometown to help send more Wartime Prayer Books to support their son's chaplain who is in the Armed Forces.

Wartime Prayer Book In 1943, Archbishop Fulton Sheen published a prayer book entitled The Armor of God. The world was caught in the storm of war, and uncertainty about the future was part of everyday life.

Sheen saluting

Today our world has once again entered a time of the darkness and terror of war. There is a great need for hope, faith, courage, and charity. To help fill this need the Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Foundation has reprinted The Armor of God with the simple title The Wartime Prayer Book.

Soldier with a prayer book

The Wartime Prayer Book contains not only standard Catholic prayers, but also reflections on the dignity of serving one's country. Though it is compact, it examines such topics as Our Lady, the Eucharist, Prayer, and Encouragement. It is an invaluable resource to our soldiers, as well as a source of comfort to all people in a time of war.

Help us spiritually support our brothers and sisters who devote their lives to protecting ours! Through your generosity, we have already been able to send over 100,000 of these prayer books to soldiers stationed in places such as Iraq, Kuwait, and Germany. We pray that our work will continue to be blessed!

Lamb of God, You take away the sins of the world; grant us Your peace.
